You are creating a new job in Talent, but what should you set up before you set up the job? You can create the job without creating many of these points, but if you want to utilize the full use of Talent, you should set up most of the competency setup (under Employee development):

Skill types is the way you organize and classify the skills you set up.

Rating models is the way you can set up rating to set the requirements for the job.

You should set up skills to be able to define what skills are needed for the job.

You register certificates to say what certificates or achievements a worker should have to get the job.

Tests is where you need to register the tests you need to register the tests that are required for a job.

Education Discipline and education disciplines categories is where you set up an categorize the education a worker should possess to get the job.

If the job requires screenings you need to set this up.

I also recommend that you set up the following:
- Title – This is the title this job gives
- Job tasks – the tasks that makes a job. Examples of tasks: Setup Talent Core, advise in the use of Talent.
- Job function – A collection of one or more tasks, duties or responsibilities that are assign to a job. An example of functions: Implement Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Talent
- Job type – Classifies similar jobs into categories. This can be used to set up and implement eligibility rules for compensation plans. Example of type: Full-time, Part-time, salary, hourly pay
- Areas of responsibility – This indicates the work roles, processes and products that a worker in a position for that job would be responsible for. An example of responsibility: Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Talent
