Release wave 1 2024 Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Data

For the first time, I’m doing a post on the release wave for both Customer Insights – Journeys and Customer Insights – Data!

Read the post about CI-J

Let’s look at the features Microsoft is working on for the next 9 months. Remember that these plans can change and things can be pushed, postponed or even removed by Microsoft. This post was accurate when it was published (25 January ’24).

As always, PP is “Public Preview” and GA is “General Availability”

Instrument and test real-time events faster with a developer portal

PP April ’24

The developer portal is for easier development, without them gaining access to D365. The developer can get the web tracking script from the dev portal and validate that your real-time events are streaming as expected.

Use automation to manage segments and measures

PP June ’24

In several systems I’m working in, I see a lot of segments created. The more segments you have, the longer refresh times you have for the whole environment, which can make your system slower. With this magical feature, CI-J will deactivate, disable and pause segments based on how much it’s used. You can, if you’re an admin, turn the feature on or off and change the retention period. When you’ve used the system for a while, you’ll probably have a lot of segments, some of which have only been used once and will never be used again. Who cleans up their segments? Nobody, it’s not a priority for most companies, so the list of segments will just be growing.

This feature is for both CI-J and CI-D

Create moment-based experiences with real-time segments

PP July ’24

No more waiting for your segment to update, or manually updating it, you’ll now get real-time updated segments based on your criteria!

Personalize omnichannel experiences with no code using Optimizely

GA April ’24

Some of you might know Optimizely by its former name, Episerver, but it’s one of the leaders in digital experience platforms. An out-of-the-box configuration to connect with Optimizely will make it a lot easier to get data into your system. This will also allow you to consume CI-D segments within Optimizely! You’ll also be able to use interaction data from Optimizely in CI-D.

Use Microsoft OneLake as a data source and destination

PP May ’24

You’ll be able to use Microsoft OneLake as your data source.

Move specific configurations between environments

GA April ’24

Hopefully, a lot of you have different environments, such as dev, test and production. With this feature things such as segments and measures are solution-aware and will be a lot easier to move between environments.

Increase control and flexibility when attaching to data in Microsoft Dataverse

GA May ’24

The connector with Dataverse will get a lot better. The teams have made performance with large tables better, you can use the tables AND columns you want! Finally, you can choose to not include inactive records, or records created or edited on, after or before a specific date. This data (after it’s unified) is automatically linked to the unified CustomerProfile table.

Enable organizations to cross-sell while protecting customer data

PP June ’24 / GA September ’24

This feature I know a lot of my customers will love. Have all the data, from all your systems in CI-D, but only be able to see the data you’re allowed to view. Your sales organisation might not for security reasons be able to see some data about the customer, but the service department needs to see all of the information. With this feature, you can separate the data and make sure the data is only available to the people who should have access to it.

Generate insights from marketing interactions

PP May ’24 / GA July ’24

We’re getting data from CI-J to CI-D without having to set up anything! Use marketing interactions to create segments or better the personalization strategies. Predict churn by looking at your analytics on email engagement, and see how you can keep customers engaged. The last bit is something I know everyone will love, create a re-targeting strategy for customers who aren’t engaging with your emails!!!

Features going from PP (previously published) to GA

April
